Projects

Camera and LiDAR Fusion for Point Cloud Semantic Segmentation

Master thesis Jan 2021 — Jan 2022

This project aimed at investigating the best approach to fuse data from LiDAR and Camera's sensors in a deep learning model in order to improve the semantic segmentation of the LiDAR's point cloud.

  1. Different types of fusion approaches were investigated (in the input layers, after features extraction or late fusion at decision heads)
  2. State of the models were used for processing image, Vision based Transformer (ViT) and LiDAR point cloud ( Sparse Voxel Convolutional Neural Network )
  3. Performance evaluated on the popolar autonomous driving dataset used KiTTi.
  4. Implementation based on deep learning framework (Pytorch, Timm Library)

Smart Assisted Living Technology

Bachelor thesis Dec 2015 — Jun 2016

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) funded this project which aimed at building a smart environment that enables the elderly to live independently under continuous health monitoring
Designed and Implemented central server software which was responsible for:

  1. asynchronous reception and processing of data from various components of system using threading
  2. Logging data in database using MySQL queries
  3. Detecting patient's emergency situations by inspecting incoming data
  4. Presenting data in an interactive GUI for patient and medical personal
